Second Christmas

December 28, 2010

Second Christmas without our Sam. Difficult, but I have so much appreciation and thankfulness that the rest of our family is still around and well. My mom now has Sam’s monitor with her new computer, Tristan has some of his clothes and his belts, and I am eating some of his favorite cookies. It was a good holiday with family. Colin came with his girlfriend who is a real beauty with a personality to boot, my cousin was there with his wife, and my sister with her children, obsessed with their new Androids. My cast is off, and life is beginning to get better. I surround myself with Sam’s art which brings great comfort. I am hopeful that 2011 will be a year of mindfulness and peace. And, three weddings. New beginnings.

Ninja Cards

December 20, 2010

When Sam was at Miad, he had to illustrate a game, so he invented a game with Ninja cards. Everytime I look at Sam’s files, I find something that I hadn’t seen before. It still amazes me.
Before he started drinking he was so prolific. He was such a visual person, and so creative, and it’s so hard to believe how all of that died a little bit everyday, until all passion for art was gone. So sad.
I have surrounded my office with his art, and it comforts me – he did such a wide range of subjects. I love it, and I have so many more to frame. But these Ninja cards crack me up.
